The ability to communicate with the incarcerated and the public, basic office skills and knowledge of computers / phones are a must. Experience is preferred but not required. Full-Time with benefits pays $24,500 annually working 12 hour shifts with every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday off (5 on 2 off, 2 on 5 off rotation). Officers are paid at the end of each calendar month (we are working to get bi-monthly pay periods as well as decent raises.)
Job Description may include but is not limited to:
- Security: Random physical well-being checks, Serve three meals daily, Pass prescribed medications, Provide recreation, Visitation and Hygiene items.
- Clerical duties: Preparation and maintenance of various inmate records (Face sheets, Commissary receipts, Request forms, Grievances, Court documents etc.), Inspection of inmate mail, and Monitoring of inmate phone calls are just a few of the tasks Detention Officer's perform.
- Stress Management: Supervising inmates can be a difficult task. You will encounter subjects under the influence (Drugs and/or Alcohol), subjects with unpleasant moods, and subjects who require immediate medical attention. You must be able to handle this potentially stressful environment.
