Looking for an interesting career opportunity? We're looking for a motivated individual to join our team down in the Osage County Detention Center. We currently have a full time position available and are seeking applicants immediately. The ability to communicate with the incarcerated and the public, basic office skills and knowledge of computers / phones are a must. Experience is preferred but not required. Shift will be determined as needed in the Jail.

**You must submit an application to the Sheriff's Office (Indeed.com is a hiring tool not our formal application), possess a valid driver's license, high school diploma or equivalent, complete a back ground check and be free of any Felony / Misdemeanor Convictions for serious consideration. You cannot be on probation or parole and work for the OCSO. If you work for a bonding agency, you must cease all functions as a bondsman while employed by the Sheriff's Office. Interviews will be scheduled with qualified candidates until all positions are filled. All applications are retained for future openings.**

Full-Time with benefits pays $24,500 annually working 12 hour shifts with every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday off (5 on 2 off, 2 on 5 off rotation). Officers are paid at the end of each calendar month (we are working to get bi-monthly pay periods as well as decent raises.)

Job Description may include but is not limited to:

  • Security: Random physical well-being checks, Serve three meals daily, Pass prescribed medications, Provide recreation, Visitation and Hygiene items.
  • Clerical duties: Preparation and maintenance of various inmate records (Face sheets, Commissary receipts, Request forms, Grievances, Court documents etc.), Inspection of inmate mail, and Monitoring of inmate phone calls are just a few of the tasks Detention Officer's perform.
  • Stress Management: Supervising inmates can be a difficult task. You will encounter subjects under the influence (Drugs and/or Alcohol), subjects with unpleasant moods, and subjects who require immediate medical attention. You must be able to handle this potentially stressful environment.
